Prayer

Where we hear someone fall in  street
The sound of prayer is heard in a knee

Like tree falls as creak is heard in wind
And the noise falls and prayer is heard.

The lips mutter words, one upon other
As the lips fall in rhythm with the knee.

Words creak on the falling repetitions
Of monosyllables alternately accented.

Some day we recall girl with green eyes
On  magazine cover muttering prayers.

A prayer sound is imagined on her lips
And a creak is heard in the mountains.
