a poem a day by A.J.Rao

A dear child’s mind loves to make
Her ribbon of poetry to cast it out.

That she wears on head to school
Where she wears rhymes by rote.

The moon is caught in her ribbon
Like dawn’s fish net catching sea.

The sea catches  high tide moon,
A moon is just  ribbon of shadow.

A river is just a ribbon from  roof,
Often mistaken for curved snake.

A rope in dark is the feared snake
Just a ribbon of shadow on sanity.

Woman wears ribbon of memory
Curving like snake on dark nights.
