I and the body

I and the body, by chance we  come together.
You know , I distance myself from the  body.

Canvas is empty so we people with thoughts
I and the body , we being unwilling buddies.

Kids in the park stage sleep and wakefulness
Seeking each other out in bush and shadow.

Kids hurl  no-parking white sign with force
In a white of sky and catch it on green grass.

All the while I and  body are coaxing poetry
To happen in parks, on roads, at a bus stop

Between old men from each other’s silence.
We people  canvas with images and poetry.
