Golden light

I am thirteen and drink water
At six P.M. and go to my bed.
See you there in golden light.

Dad’s balance sheet will tally,
With receivables and payables
Accounted by women’s gold.

I shut window, lay self down,
Draw the white sheet to chin.
Heaven is white up to a chin.

(A thirteen year old girl dies after fasting for 68 days as part of a religious ritual believed to be to bring her father’s gold business out of losses)
