a poem a day by A.J.Rao

Body image

If they are not dead already by their teens,
Desert turtles live on till God knows when.

Desert turtles carry nothing on their shells.
They do not carry mortality on their bodies.

Humans carry a body image on their backs.
They wear a  body image sitting in balcony.

The woman sitting in the opposite balcony
Carries sorrow on her back as  body image.

She sits here, day after day, hour after hour.
She dies in her body image in slow decline.
